North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Military Medals awarded US military personnel. The first NATO metal was awarded for service in the former Yugoslavia starting in 1992. Since then several different versions of the Medal have been awarded but NATO has now standardized its military medals to three versions:; the NATO Meritorious Service medal, the Article 5 NATO MEDAL, and the Non Article 5 NATO MEDAL.
